No epic emails or meetings? *sigh* <!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Thursday<\/p>\n<p>7:15 am \u2013 bike to work, clean up, boot computer, start making genmai-cha<\/p>\n<p>7:25 am \u2013 launched tweetdeck, Pandora, read gmail, feeds, and other things<\/p>\n<p>7:30 am \u2013 Minions come back to work<\/p>\n<p>7:42 am \u2013 planet toc updated. Going through the various toc feeds<\/p>\n<p>7:48 am \u2013 checked wiki and wiki calendar<\/p>\n<p>7:53 am \u2013 checked work email and calendar<\/p>\n<p>7:54 am \u2013 email from minion suggesting workflow change in receiving dups from circulation and stacks maintenance. Signed off on my end, waiting for others to do the same<\/p>\n<p>7:57 am \u2013 worked on duplicates report\u2026 which turned out to be a repeat from yesterday\u2019s report<\/p>\n<p>8:02 am \u2013 checked work calendar again. Meeting at 10, otherwise free for the rest of the day\u2026.<\/p>\n<p>8:03 am \u2013 spoke too soon. Receipt cataloging procedure needs changing on the wiki.<\/p>\n<p>8:10 am \u2013 started going through inbox, cleaning, rearranging, and catch any possible backburner issues<\/p>\n<p>8:16 am \u2013 read department meeting notes from earlier this week<\/p>\n<p>8:19 am \u2013 one email away from Inbox 0. Last email dealing with Butler County\u2019s adoption of Nixle, a community information service. Signing up to receive notices<\/p>\n<p>8:25 am \u2013 signed up for Nixle notices. Dept. head signed off on workflow change. Inbox 0<\/p>\n<p>8:26 am \u2013 went to MARC proposals page to look at 542 and 260 proposals<\/p>\n<p>8:38 am \u2013 emailed dept. head and catalog librarian about 542 field<\/p>\n<p>8:43 am \u2013 now to look at the 260 proposal more closely\u2026 if I can find it first<\/p>\n<p>8:57 am \u2013 failed horribly to find anything relating to the 260 change\u2026 Ohhhh, it\u2019s a 2001 proposal. That\u2019s an old one. Why has it taken this long to implement the change, OCLC?<\/p>\n<p>9:09 am \u2013 secretly feeling sorry for our future ER\/S librarian who has to deal with the OCLC-MARC changes while they are in full swing<\/p>\n<p>9:18 am \u2013 enough with 260 changes. Started work on evaluation forms for new faculty orientation next month<\/p>\n<p>9:30 am \u2013sent email asking for titles of breakout session at orientation. Started preparation for training employee in AutoIt. Selecting Macro Express script to convert during the first training session. Baby steps, Becky, baby steps<\/p>\n<p>9:40 am \u2013 checked in with new faculty orientation head about getting those evaluation forms online. Topic has been placed on agenda for next meeting<\/p>\n<p>10:00 am \u2013 AutoIt training session<\/p>\n<p>11:22 am \u2013 Back from training session #1. Lots of emails to catch up with<\/p>\n<p>11:33 am \u2013 inbox 0 did not last for long. Reading DMS agenda for Monday, testing out survey tools before sending them off to the IRB process<\/p>\n<p>12:00 pm \u2013 lunch!<\/p>\n<p>1:00 pm \u2013 back from lunch. (yet again spent at the computer). Emailed news about Elsevier selling off LJ, SLJ, and PW to other librarians. Waiting for riot to ensue<\/p>\n<p>1:10 pm \u2013 W00t! Free afternoon. Now what is on my to-do list\u2026<\/p>\n<p>1:20 pm \u2013 switched Pandora to \u201cI miss the 80s\u201d station. Started work on super secret project (well, super secret to you folks)<\/p>\n<p>2:15 pm \u2013 Sent some reading material to employee learning AutoIt. Safari_books_online++<\/p>\n<p>3:00 pm \u2013 mandatory 15 min break<\/p>\n<p>3:15 pm \u2013 back from break. Time to schedule meetings, lucky me\u2026<\/p>\n<p>3:25 pm \u2013 call for help from employee learning AutoIt. Going to her rescue<\/p>\n<p>3:50 pm \u2013 back from call of help. Employee built her first AutoIt script! W00t!<\/p>\n<p>4:19 pm \u2013 impromptu meeting with dept. head<\/p>\n<p>4:24 \u2013 look more emails to respond to. Joy<\/p>\n<p>4:40 \u2013 Prepare stuff to work on tomorrow<\/p>\n<p>5:00 \u2013 bike home, dodging rain showers on the way<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>What&#8217;s this?!
